The most common question that we’ve been getting asked lately is how we come up with the questions for the interviews.
Here’s a three part explanation:
- When Eric and I were first hashing out the details of the site, we decided that we really liked the way that the New York Magazine Look Book seemed to ask somewhat random, unique questions.
- I had just listened an old Entrepreneurial Thought Leaders podcast that featured Sheryl Sandberg. One thing that really stuck with me was her emphasis on respecting people’s time. If someone was going to take the time to answer some of our questions, we better make sure to use it wisely. Therefore we make it a point to research everyone before formulating any questions. If we can answer the question ourselves through Google, then it’s time to throw it away and come up with new one.
- We like to stress that we don’t want the site to become too formal. The site should be a fun way to get to know someone else in the community, so we try to make sure that at least one of the questions is a little off-topic.
